Author's Notes: So, the other thing I had spent a great deal of time thinking about, in addition to how Keiko might be able to realistically deal with a threat on her own, was how to detect Changelings more effectively than using blood samples. I probably spent the better part of a month mulling this over on my various walks, because as intimidating as DS9 made the Founders, once I saw them introduced, I thought there had to be a loophole or two to exploit--otherwise, well, the Federation was doomed.

I didn't write all the ideas I came up with into the fic, though I did cover a good number of them. It was fun to get the chance to put them to use, so yup!

Author's Notes: This fic comes from two places. First, I had been a fan of Keiko in TNG, and I had been glad when I started watching DS9 to find that she had made the switch between series with me. However, while she did get some very good writing in some episodes, a lot of the time I got the sense that the writers didn't quite know what to do with her. It frustrated me that not only did she occasionally get stuck in the "nagging wife" role in an attempt at humour, but she actually got written out of the show entirely for over a season so that Miles and Julian could have manly bonding time.

So, I wanted to write something that would let Keiko be the badass I know she is in a realistic way for her skill set. And I hope that here I've achieved it.

The second place, I'll talk about more in later chapters. I'd hate to spoil all of you for my own fic, after all!

Though I didn't realise it until I was writing the second-last scene, there's a song that fits this fic extremely well, and is responsible for its title: "The Spinning Wheel" by Michiru, from the album "World's End Village." Author's Notes: One of my big regrets in Luceti is actually sending Grune on the draft that took place during the giant storm. I really, really wanted to have her team up with Ryoji, but ultimately I decided that it had been long enough since her last draft that she was due for another one.

Then I ended up not doing much of anything, thereby wasting both my opportunities. v___v

So, this fic is my attempt to remedy that. I suppose it could be considered the final part to "A Chance Rescue" and "A Chance Visit." Pretty much, I took the scenario that Snarky wrote up for Ryoji on the village post and basically ran with it. I had a lot of fun writing this one (doing fic from Grune's point of view is always a great thought exercise), and I think it turned out fairly well overall. So yup!

Author's Notes: So basically this one is me shamelessly indulging my weakness for Grune being a badass. It took me a long time to write, then to dictate and edit, but overall I'm fairly pleased with how it came out.

While I haven't watched all that much of Buffy, I tried to make the appearance of the First Evil what I think would be likely for the show. Even if it isn't what I personally would have gone with, I think this fits in the universe better. I could be completely off base, though.

I apologize in advance for any mistakes I might have made with the canon; I did a lot of reading and looking at images, but yeah.

Author's Notes: In a nutshell, my take on one of the ways the Vampire!Giles plot in Luceti could have run. I harbour no illusions that this is actually how things would have turned out--but it was fun to write anyway. Ceodore and Selphie's roles were determined by their position on the sign-up lists; everything else came from my brain.

A note for those unfamiliar with Tales of Legendia's canon: The deity of Melfes is Nerifes, which is also the ocean of that world. Thus, any water-element spells also have the dual element of light.
