Summary: When O'Brien doesn't answer Sisko's hail over his combadge, Sisko and Odo assume the worst. In this case, however, their pessimism may not be called for--and may, in fact, make things a touch awkward.
Author's Notes: Because everyone in Star Trek jumps to conclusions way too often, and it has to have bitten them in the ass at least once or twice over the years.

Summary: Keiko has many beautiful smiles. The one she wears when she suggests that they should invite Julian and his new partner Garak over for a dinner party is not remotely one of Miles' favourites.
Author's Notes: I've been meaning to get around to posting this one for, um, over a year now. Whoops.

I don't think I've ever written anything from Miles' perspective before, actually! It was a bit of a challenge, in that I didn't want to write some of his more 90s TV husband traits but I also wanted to stay true to his character. Balancing his actual reasonable dislike of Garak with him also being grumpy was interesting as well.

I'm not sure if I'll be writing anything else from his point of view any time soon, but it was a good exercise in the meantime. And it was an excuse to write more about Keiko, as well as one of my OTPs, and I never say no to that!

Also: I've included a bonus wry joke for anyone who's read A Stitch In Time. Five points if you catch it. <3

Summary: When Dukat's baseball team beats Ben Sisko's at first recess, there's no way he's going to let it happen at lunch. There's just one problem....
Author's Notes: My brother Yosie and I created this 'verse during about 150 km of a road trip we took together last summer. We've had a lot of fun planning it, but this is the first thing I've actually written for it. Hopefully when we get a little more time, we'll be able to have other things to share, too.

Author's Notes: And here we are at the end! Thank you to everyone for reading along with me--this is one of the projects I'm most proud of, so I'm glad I was able to share it with you. Thank you again, too, to my wonderful betas, tinsnip and Yosie! You two are the best. <3

I look forward to seeing all of you the next time! <3

Author's Notes: Not a lot to say about this chapter, really! I pretty much exhausted my wordiness in earlier chapters. So I hope you all enjoy this one as Keiko takes one last, large risk.

First Julian had offered to help, then Odo, now there was Nerys and all the senior staff of the station. She wasn't alone anymore, and neither was the real Miles . . . wherever he was. )

Summary: When Miles returns from a wartime engineering course, Keiko is glad to have him safe at home again--but soon she realises that all is not well. Now she must gather evidence while protecting her family and without letting on that she knows something is wrong. This chapter: Strategic meetings.
Author's Notes: So, the other thing I had spent a great deal of time thinking about, in addition to how Keiko might be able to realistically deal with a threat on her own, was how to detect Changelings more effectively than using blood samples. I probably spent the better part of a month mulling this over on my various walks, because as intimidating as DS9 made the Founders, once I saw them introduced, I thought there had to be a loophole or two to exploit--otherwise, well, the Federation was doomed.

I didn't write all the ideas I came up with into the fic, though I did cover a good number of them. It was fun to get the chance to put them to use, so yup!

There they were, side by side, two enemies lying in the same bed and feigning sleep. )

Now she must gather evidence while protecting her family and without letting on that she knows something is wrong. This chapter: Keiko begins her tests and gathers an ally.
Author's Notes: In addition to having fun with working out what Keiko could accomplish on her own with the tools available to her, I also enjoyed filling out her relationships a little more. Due to her low screentime, we didn't really get to see many of her friendships, so it was neat thinking about how things might look with the important people in her life. Fodder for later fics? You never know.

He chuckled and Keiko laughed along with him, hoping as she did that the shrillness of the sound was only in her imagination. )

Summary: When Miles returns from a wartime engineering course, Keiko is glad to have him safe at home again--but soon she realises that all is not well. Now she must gather evidence while protecting her family and without letting on that she knows something is wrong.
Author's Notes: This fic comes from two places. First, I had been a fan of Keiko in TNG, and I had been glad when I started watching DS9 to find that she had made the switch between series with me. However, while she did get some very good writing in some episodes, a lot of the time I got the sense that the writers didn't quite know what to do with her. It frustrated me that not only did she occasionally get stuck in the "nagging wife" role in an attempt at humour, but she actually got written out of the show entirely for over a season so that Miles and Julian could have manly bonding time.

So, I wanted to write something that would let Keiko be the badass I know she is in a realistic way for her skill set. And I hope that here I've achieved it.

The second place, I'll talk about more in later chapters. I'd hate to spoil all of you for my own fic, after all!

Though I didn't realise it until I was writing the second-last scene, there's a song that fits this fic extremely well, and is responsible for its title: "The Spinning Wheel" by Michiru, from the album "World's End Village." You can listen to it here and, if you like it, you can buy the track here. There are no lyrics available on the internet--believe me, I've looked. Instead, the quotes have been transcribed by myself, Yosie, and my friend Angie, who introduced me to the song in the first place. Thank you very much!

And thank you to tinsnip and Yosie for kindly taking the time to beta this for me, and for providing lots of encouragement. You two are the best. <3

And now, onto the fic!

'Welcome home, Miles,' she said and kissed him one more time, for the simple pleasure of being able to. )

Summary: All Starfleet personnel must obtain authorisation from their C.O. as well as clearance from their medical officer before initiating an intimate relationship with an alien species. - VOY 5x17 "The Disease." Enforcing this particular Starfleet regulation is all well and good on a starship, but on an active space station maintained by two separate governments, matters are a little more...challenging.
Author's Notes: The moment I learned of this particular regulation, I knew I had to write a DS9 fic about it. While on one hand it does make sense that people would want to know whether there would be any unpleasant side effects to getting it on with a member of another species, on the other, when it comes to a place like DS9, the regulation strikes me as horrendously impractical. Thus: this fic. I took a few liberties with the relationships in this, for purposes of fun and shipping bias, but the majority of pairings in this are canon compliant.

On a side note, I came this close to titling the fic "Alien Banging Regulations," and it's all Ereka's fault.

There was, in fact, only one new task he did not relish: giving the Starfleet personnel on his station permission to initiate intimate interspecies relationships. )

Summary: At a slightly tipsy gathering of most of the senior staff of DS9 (plus Keiko and Garak), it's decided that they really should play an old Earth game Sisko recently read about.
Author's Notes: I had originally been intending to post something else today, but then I realized at the last minute that I had left out an important scene, and so that's been put on hold until I can, uh, actually write it.

Instead, I decided to post this, which is basically me having fun with historical mix-ups. I really enjoy the idea of people in our future getting things in the present day not quite right, because, you know, if we can mess up stuff that went on much less than a hundred years ago, expecting perfect accuracy three hundred years in the future is a bit much.

Also, I really like the idea of the senior staff (and secondary characters) socialising in large groups. We mostly saw them pair off on their downtime, which was really nice, but the occasional mildly awkward night at Quark's would have been fun to see too.

This is totally silly, so don't think much more than that about it. :Db;

Summary: Julian and Kira return from the Mirrorverse physically in one piece. Their mental and emotional recoveries, however, aren't so straightforward. This part: Julian reconciles the roles the different versions of his friends play and comes to terms with one Mirrorverse death in particular.
Author's Notes: So this got long. Really long, which is why I haven't updated this fic since it was posted. Originally, this was supposed to be a single chapter, but there was just so much awful thrown at Julian and Kira in this episode that I ended up just writing and writing and writing the fallout. So it's now in three parts, one of which is very short, but, well, it made more thematic sense to divide it up that way.

This three-parter brought to you by "Have You Ever" by The Offspring, which turned up on my mp3 player the moment I began my planning.
