Summary: The first Lovers' Day since Jadzia's death, Kira has to make a decision.
Author's Notes: Happy Femslash February! I had been expecting to celebrate the month with my current favourite femslash couple, Kira/Jadzia, but then this popped into my head and demanded to be written. I didn't think I shipped Kira/Ezri, but after writing this I sure do!

Slightly AU, set in a 'verse where reassociation is not a taboo among the Trill. (Although lbr, given Ezri was also a Starfleet science officer on exactly the same station and with exactly the same friends as her previous host, I don't think the writers were too concerned about that by Season 7.)

And so Kira had gone to the holosuites and had beaten the shit out of as many computer-generated images as she could until she had been too exhausted to grieve. )

Summary: Ever since transferring to this particular building of Deep Space Co., Julian has had an unusual problem: he's getting along too well with one coworker in particular. Now he and Elim are facing the (hopefully metaphorical) firing squad.
Author's Notes: Er...hi. :D;; I didn't mean to go on hiatus, but it's amazing what moving 1800 km, spending two weeks in another country, and apartment hunting will do to your free time. I don't think I'm going to be right up to my usual schedule for a while yet, but I do hope to post more often from now on.

Another contributing factor to the space between updates would be that this was yet another trope that I needed to rewrite. I just wasn't happy with how it had turned out and the decisions I had made about the AU, so there was a fair bit of reworking going on. It's still not my favourite, but I like it a lot more than I did when I first started editing! :D;

He'd never thought, before meeting Elim, that getting along well with someone could be a problem. )

Summary: Asbel and Richard have confessed their feelings to each other and are now boyfriends. The only problem is, Asbel has no idea what being a boyfriend actually consists of.
Author's Notes: I wrote this quite a while ago, and I was hoping to get it posted in time for Richass Week on tumblr, but obviously that didn't happen. Whoops.

This follows immediately after To See His Smile, but it isn't necessary to have read it to understand what's going on in this.

But how was he supposed to be Richard's boyfriend? )

Summary: Kai Winn had three chances to turn away from the path of the Pah-Wraiths. In DS9's canon, she chose the third. This is what might have happened if she had chosen differently.
Author's Notes: One of my least favourite things about Season 7 is what the writers did to Kai Winn. Her dubcon relationship with Dukat sat extremely poorly with me for many, many reasons. Beyond the obvious, it read to me like punishing a female character with sex for seeking power, and that's just fantastically gross. I may not be a fan of Winn as a person, but as a character, I thought she was terrific until everything went to hell (pun not intended).

That said, this fic also came from the way it seemed to me that Winn had three chances to get off her path to the Pah-Wraiths. In the show, it was when she told Sisko to destroy the book that she finally did, but it was too late for her. I picked out a couple of other moments where things might have gone differently and had fun exploring what could have happened. And I enjoyed myself immensely.

She had strained her ears in a perverse kind of hope that she would once more be cursed by the voices of the Pah-Wraiths. )

Summary: Those who are brought back from the dead are unnatural, their emotions muted and their existence dulled and painful. Grune will not permit such a fate to befall one so loved.
Author's Notes: So this is over a year old and one of the last things I wrote before I went on my massive DS9 binge. It was born from the speculation of what direction the Buffy comics were going to take with Giles. This was one of the possibilities, even if it wasn't the direction the comics ended up going in. Possibly Giles would have preferred this to what actually happened.

I'm going to get back to posting my Luceti fic now, I think--I currently have a massive backlog of stuff I wrote but never got around to dictating up. I'm just going to be really slow about it. :D;;

Stars can be born, live, and fade away in the space between one moment and the next in a mortal life, and still she will never be 'too late.' )

Summary: Julian has spent the last six months working as a doctor at a hospital in Andor. Now he's home for the holidays, to the joy of all of his friends--but especially Garak. This chapter: Julian and Garak's time together comes to an end, but their gifts to each other aren't quite complete yet.
Author's Notes: And here we are, at the end of the month and at the end of these two's time together. Thank you very much to everyone who's read along--it's been lovely sharing the holiday with you this year.

As a heads up, since I spent pretty much all my time on this for the last couple of months, there'll be a bit of a gap before I'm able to post my next fic. I have lots of stuff waiting in the wings that needs only to be dictated and polished, but finding time to do as much is easier said than done.

Until then, may 2014 be the best year ever for everyone, and I look forward to seeing you all with a fresh batch of fics in the new year. <3

Finishing up their last-minute preparations, they chatted, teased, and flirted as they always did, but beneath their words lay the knowledge that their time together was coming to a close. )

Summary: Julian has spent the last six months working as a doctor at a hospital in Andor. Now he's home for the holidays, to the joy of all of his friends--but especially Garak. This chapter: Christmas Day.
Author's Notes: Merry Christmas! I hope Santa was kind to those of you who left their metaphorical chimneys open for him, and all the best wishes to those of you who don't celebrate the holiday. To those of you for whom this is a difficult time of year, I hope you find peace.

This chapter, of all of them, is made of spun sugar--but if you've read this far, I'm going to assume you don't have any objections to that sort of thing. I wrote this well before propheticfire submitted a certain headcanon to the Deep Dish Nine blog on tumblr, and so I was greatly amused when it turned upon my dash. We went sort of in completely opposite directions with it, though.

Thank you to Lady Yate-xel, who was kind enough to loan me a certain idea of hers. <3

Once again, all my love and gratitude to everyone who's read my fics and supported me this year. All of you are awesome and I'm so lucky to have each and every one of you in my life. <3

Author's Notes: Merry Christmas Eve! I hope all of you have had a good day, whether you celebrate the holiday or not. And if things didn't go so well, I hope Julian and Elim being romantic dorks will bring a smile to your face, because boy do they do a lot of that in this chapter.

Author's Notes: And in this chapter I continue to enjoy including cameos from the other characters, because DS9 has such a great cast. A tip of the hat goes to tinsnip's delightful "Dancing in a Dance Club" for a certain part of this, which should be immediately obvious upon reading. ♥

He began reevaluating said decision when, out of the scattered mass of belongings that had once somehow fit into a single large suitcase, Julian produced a garish Santa hat. )

Author's Notes: While I had originally envisioned this fic as having a tighter scope (and much fewer words), it was about now that more of the characters in the world of Deep Dish Nine started dropping by for a visit. Given I generally have a great time writing all of them, it wasn't much of a hardship to let them stay.

Summary: Julian has spent the last six months working as a doctor at a hospital in Andor. Now he's home for the holidays, to the joy of all of his friends--but especially Garak. This chapter: adventures with airports.
Author's Notes: So this accidentally turned into the equivalent of a Nano project for me. And, like a Nano project, this isn't nearly as polished as I'd really like it to be. However, Christmas doesn't wait for perfectionists. Alas.

This is pure, unadulterated slice-of-life fluff from start to finish, by the way. Anybody looking for action or angst or complexity should probably look elsewhere. Anyone who wants to feel warm and cosy, though, make yourself at home!

I borrowed a little bit more from tinsnip and Lady Yate-xel's discussions than usual, so I suppose you could say this AU is ever-so-slightly AU--at least where my version of it is concerned, anyway.

On a serious note, this fic is dedicated to anyone for whom Christmas is not a time of good cheer. I wrote this as a way of showing what I think Christmas should be, not necessarily what it is. If you're going to have a difficult holiday season, then I hope reading about Julian and Elim having a good one will be able to give you something of an escape, even for a little while.

That's all. I hope everyone enjoys as I post this over the next few weeks. ♥

After less than ten minutes on the road, he'd shut off the broadcast. He'd also seriously reevaluated Julian's taste in friends. )

Summary: Garak invites Julian to a concert of music by the "dangerous" Arnold Schoenberg. Julian has no idea what to expect, but he's about to find out.
Author's Notes: Another of my installments in the DS9 pizza shop AU, Deep Dish Nine. This one is significantly more serious in tone than my previous outing. I was inspired by the fics and discussions of tinsnip and Lady Yate-Xel into trying my hand at Julian and Garak's relationship in this 'verse, though I more or less went off in my own direction to a degree. So, for example, I ended up loosely basing Cardassian dating on turn-of-the-previous-century courting to give it some of that different flavour that's present in DS9, rather than stealing any thunder.

Jane Bond is the idea of humon, whose take I love rather a lot.

Dedicated to tinsnip, who not only is a fantastic beta (posting this ahead of schedule is my very small way of thanking her for all her help), but a lovely person and friend. The DS9 fandom is lucky as hell to have you. ♥

'Well then,' Garak began in that rehearsed casual tone that signaled many of his suggestions, 'perhaps you'd be willing to accompany me to a concert later this week—once either your assignment is handed in or is a pile of ash on the floor of your apartment.' )

The concert. )

Author's Notes: The first in a series of twenty-one fics (damn you, Hecate!) covering the first twenty years of Cecil's life in an AU where Grune was found alongside him when he was rescued as a newborn by the King of Baron. She then became like a mother to him and spoiled him absolutely rotten.

I am kind of excessively fond of this AU, so expect lots of this in the next while. :|b

Summary: The people of Luceti Valley have been having such strange dreams lately.
Author's Notes: The most recent event in [livejournal.com profile] luceti had characters forgetting their past lives for ten days, adopting new family relations, and believing this had always been so. My character, Grune, believed she was a mortal woman deeply in love with her husband, Dhaos, another mortal.

In the latter half of the event, the characters began to dream of their past lives as though they were very nearly more real than their lives in "Luceti Valley." Almost no one enjoyed the dream-memories of their true lives; as a whole, everyone was far happier living the lie.

As a note, Grune in this AU was slightly more aware and perceptive than usual during the event, to compensate for a few of the necessities of the situation. This may or may not be noticeable in the piece (which I'm just going to shut up and let everyone read now).

'Master, have you forgotten me?' )

Summary: Days after the assassination of Emperor Karl V of Malkuth, Peony confronts the first of many hard decisions that will mark his reign.
Author's Notes: This one comes from a discussion [livejournal.com profile] rallalon and I had a couple of nights ago. This aspect of Peony's role as emperor was mentioned only briefly, but it stuck with me, and I wondered: How would a man who exerted every effort to make peace between two bitter enemies react to death on a much smaller scale, and death far closer to home?

There are a few events referenced from my semi-AU Peony headcanon here. First is the assassination of Karl V, Peony's father, which I ficced about here half a year ago. Second is my own personal take on the "struggle for succession" that sent Peony to Keterburg as a child--that Karl VI, heir of Karl V, attempted to assassinate his father and was publicly beheaded. Karl V made all his remaining heirs watch to send a message, including Peony, who was eight at the time.

And before my ramblings become longer than the fic itself, I'll end here.

He'd never sleep. Not when he's killing people tomorrow )

Summary:
"ND2014: The Emperor of Malkuth, Peony the Ninth, ascends the throne at age thirty-three."

"That's the problem. When faced with a Score of death, people become unable to live peacefully."
Author's Notes: While I could have written this all in one go, considering how inspired I felt, it was emotional enough that I needed to break it into three separate writing sessions. I think I've managed to convey the emotion effectively enough--Yoshimi seemed to think so, anyway.

This can be considered AU, if only because I made up the history for my headspace Peony before I found and began to translate a timeline of recent events in Tales of the Abyss (starting with Jade's birth).

Peony's stomach was already falling before the man on the other side of the door gave his answer: 'There are assassins in the palace!' )

Ayayay. My life the past few months has been insane. I've had to put virtually all ficcing on hold until the last week or so, because I simply did not have the time (or, come the end of the day, energy) to write anything. However, I'm planning on making the most of my brief period of non-busyness, so prepare to be inundated with fic!

This first thing is one of two Christmas fics I'm planning on writing this holiday. This...would be the depressing one. So if you're expecting something jolly (a fair guess, with me), this ain't it. Wait for the second one.

Hope you all enjoy, and lemme say, boy does it feel good to be writing again.
