Title: Making Lemonade [5/?]
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Romance
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 100 words
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: A collection of romantic drabbles featuring Julian Bashir and Elim Garak. Today's prompt: "Feather," otherwise known as "Julian and Garak in the snow."
Author's Notes: Well, it's time to update this again. Once again, I struggle with the one hundred-word limit. I can feel myself growing as a writer already....

It's too warm in the holosuite for snow, really, but Garak threatened to leave if he turned down the temperature. )

Title: 30-Day Cheesy Tropes Challenge - 11. Meet in a Dream
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 942
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: When a telepathic virus strikes DS9 in Julian's first week on the station, he couldn't be more excited--specially when he begins receiving the speech of one of the station's most notorious residents.
Author's Notes: This is another one I had to rewrite because I was dissatisfied with the way I had initially handled the trope. (Tbh it's another trope that, uh, pretty much does nothing for me.) The second attempt preceded to turn into one of my favourite fics of the challenge. Season 1 Julian, you are an adorkable mess.

Genre: Romance

Disclaimer: I don't own the above fandoms.
Summary: When Norma finds out that Dhaos has never taken Grune on a date, she's determined to take care of that lapse, pronto. Dhaos isn't so enthusiastic.
Author's Notes: And at last I've finished! This one could also be titled "Dhaos and the Unreliable Narration," because holy shit, dude, could you be less self-aware. (Signs point to no.)

This fic is showing its age, because pretty much everybody but Helios outside of the Tales cast has since gone home in Luceti. Sob.

Enjoy?

Title: It's a Grudge Match, Ben Sisko!
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 943
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: When Dukat's baseball team beats Ben Sisko's at first recess, there's no way he's going to let it happen at lunch. There's just one problem....
Author's Notes: My brother Yosie and I created this 'verse during about 150 km of a road trip we took together last summer. We've had a lot of fun planning it, but this is the first thing I've actually written for it. Hopefully when we get a little more time, we'll be able to have other things to share, too.

Title: 30-Day Cheesy Tropes Challenge - 10. Deserted Island
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Pre-slash/Romance
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: This part 493, ?? overall
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: When Garak and Julian get stranded on a remote Bajoran island, it isn't quite as much of a disaster as matters first appeared.
Author's Notes: Ever so slightly AU, so that these two can go on a trip without worrying about assassination attempts. Assume that Garak's exile included Bajor as well as Deep Space Nine. :D;;

'I should make a point of travelling with you more often, Garak.' )

Title: Rally
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 705
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: Senator Cretak visits Deep Space Nine to participate in trade negotiations, a situation that's become old hat for Colonel Kira.
Author's Notes: This week's submission for DS9 Tumblr Zine, for the prompt "Fix It"! This prompt was something of a challenge for me, in that while I devoutly love DS9, there are so many places where they just...dropped the ball. Or didn't consider the implications of some of their decisions.

One of the things that frustrated me deeply about Season 7 was that the writers created a terrific character in Senator Cretak, who wasn't your stereotypical Romulan and who had fantastic chemistry with Kira--and then they more or less fridged her in a failed attempt to dirty up Julian in "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges." It really grinds my gears.

I ended up not taking advantage of the extra time as I had originally been planning, simply because I knew this would either be 700 words or 7000, and sadly I can't write that fast. I have plans to expand this at a later date, but we'll see how late that later date actually ends up being.

Cretak inclined her head as though they had happened to run into each other in a Bajoran tea shop and weren't, in fact, about to participate in fearsome trade negotiations along with First Minister Shakaar. )

Summary: Leeta joins Rom, Nog, and the Siskos for supper for the first time.
Author's Notes: This week's submission for DS9 Tumblr Zine, for the prompt "Cultural Exchange"! Once again, I had already done a piece about Julian and Garak involving this prompt (creatively titled "Cultural Exchange"), so I thought I would write something a little different and outside my usual scope instead. And I'm definitely going to have to do this again--I had a blast!

Title: Making Lemonade
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Romance
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 100 words x 4
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: A collection of romantic drabbles featuring Julian Bashir and Elim Garak.
Author's Notes: It's been years since I last attempted to write strict drabbles, and since then, I feel I've grown quite a bit as an author. That said, sticking to exactly one hundred words is hard.

I have no idea how many of these I'm going to write--the list I'm working from has two hundred prompts, but I seriously doubt I'll fill all of them.

Title: Life Lessons at Three Hundred
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Fluff

Words: 497
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: When Kira and Dax are trapped overnight in a cave due to an ion storm, Kira is a bit more matter-of-fact about certain parts than Dax had been expecting.
Author's Notes: For DS9 Tumblr Zine's first week! The prompt was "Huddling For Warmth," and since I already did a version with Julian and Garak and it's still Femslash February, it didn't take me too long to figure out what I was going to do.

We'll see how many of these prompts I'm actually going to be able to fill--probably I'm going to need to skip the longer ones. But I hope to be able to hit as many as I can! And of course I'll archive them here as I fill them. So, happy reading!

Title: Cultural Exchange
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space 9
Genre: Romance/Gen
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 1337
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space 9.
Summary: The closer Julian and Garak become, the less distinct the borders of their respective cultures grow.
Author's Notes: This is an early piece I wrote, both as a way of laying out for myself how a cultural exchange between Julian and Garak might go, and as a challenge, to see if I could write an interesting fic without dialogue. Whether I've succeeded remains to be seen.

Someday, I may do a follow-up piece with these two involving the less obvious cultural details and how they mesh (or don't), but I have a lot of writing projects I intend to do first, so I'd advise against holding your breath.

The first time at lunch that Julian had ordered red leaf tea and Garak had ordered orange pekoe, Julian had actually hurt his face grinning. )

Words: 3060

Summary: When Richard confesses a long-held secret on Lhant Hill, Asbel is left trying to understand just what it means to him.
Author's Notes: This is yet another fic in my Time-Strengthened Ties AU, wherein Richard spends the better part of the year in Lhant as a child. I haven't really concerned myself with the chronology of these fics, so I suppose it's more in the same 'verse rather than being a direct sequel to the other ones I've posted. So yeah.

'Asbel,' Richard said suddenly. 'Let's go to Lhant Hill.' )

Title: 30-Day Cheesy Tropes Challenge - 07. Stuck Someplace Together in Winter
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: G this part, PG-13 overall?
Words: 268 this part, ?? overall
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: Crash-landing on a frozen planet in the middle of a blizzard is bad. But when one of your number is Cardassian...that would be worse.
Author's Notes: More or less, this is me having fun with both the trope and with species differences. I've played up the Cardassian intolerance for cold and the potential reaction to frigid temperatures for the fun of it, although possibly not too much--if room temperature is too cold and a desert planet is "bracing," then I think it's pretty safe to say that this is a species that would not enjoy snow in the slightest.

Summary: Once the question of when, exactly, is Garak's birthday pops into Julian's head, he discovers that it's unsurprisingly difficult to answer.
Author's Notes: Written for tinsnip's birthday. ♥ Figuring out what to give you as a gift was amazingly easy, and consequently, you're one of the only birthdays I've been on time for all year. :D;; Thank you for being an absolutely lovely person and a supreme beta, and I hope you have a phenomenal year. ♥♥♥

It had been Worf's surprise birthday that had put the question in Julian's mind. )

Title: 30-Day Cheesy Tropes Challenge - 06. Spin the Bottle

Summary: At a slightly tipsy gathering of most of the senior staff of DS9 (plus Keiko and Garak), it's decided that they really should play an old Earth game Sisko recently read about.
Author's Notes: I had originally been intending to post something else today, but then I realized at the last minute that I had left out an important scene, and so that's been put on hold until I can, uh, actually write it.

Instead, I decided to post this, which is basically me having fun with historical mix-ups. I really enjoy the idea of people in our future getting things in the present day not quite right, because, you know, if we can mess up stuff that went on much less than a hundred years ago, expecting perfect accuracy three hundred years in the future is a bit much.

Also, I really like the idea of the senior staff (and secondary characters) socialising in large groups. We mostly saw them pair off on their downtime, which was really nice, but the occasional mildly awkward night at Quark's would have been fun to see too.

This is totally silly, so don't think much more than that about it. :Db;

Title: Going Down in Lhant History
Fandom: Tales of Graces
Genre: Fluff
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 2808
Disclaimer: I don't own Tales of Graces.
Summary: After a week of rain, Asbel knows exactly what he wants to do with his friends to celebrate his freedom from the manor.
Author's Notes: This is yet another installment in my AU wherein Richard spends nearly a year in Lhant, as opposed to nearly a day. It's basically pure, unadulterated fluff from beginning to end--as are most of the things I write for this 'verse, but you know.

'Their game was going to go down in Lhant history and it was all because of him.' )

Title: 30-Day Cheesy Tropes Challenge - 05. Bartender AU
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Pre-slash
Rating & Warnings: G this part (alcohol), PG-13 overall?
Words: 351 this part, ?? overall
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: Julian has never met anyone better at making him forget that the role of a bartender is to listen, not to talk.
Author's Notes: This one is just a little thing based on me once again thinking about the trope, seeing where my mind automatically assumed Julian and Garak would go, and then switching their places. Julian continues to have the weirdest career path, more or less.

'There's nothing sinister about taking an interest in people, is there?' )

Title: A Piano Lesson With Miss Grune
Fandoms: [community profile] luceti, Tales of Legendia, Eternal Sonata, Axis Powers Hetalia, original works
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 1491
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the above fandoms.
Summary: Frédéric François Chopin teaches a typical atypical piano lesson to Grune.
Author's Notes: This is the fic I wrote in honour of Frédéric's departure from Luceti ages ago. Now that he's back, I suppose it's a good time to post it. :D;;

This was an interesting exercise, in that teaching piano lessons is kind of my job, but presumably I would teach very differently from someone from the 19th century. I've also never taught anyone like Grune (although I certainly have taught my share of wiggly small children!), so that was another fun challenge. Writing this was a little too much like work, though, so I don't think I'll do anything like it again anytime soon. Whoops.

He had never before taken on a student with such an—impairment to the memory. )

Title: 30-Day Cheesy Tropes Challenge - 04. Angel/Demon AU
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: G this part, PG-13 overall?
Words: 366 this part, ?? overall
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: Jules isn't very good at being a demon.
Author's Notes: Can anyone tell I'm a fan of Good Omens?

Also, I had intended the use of "Jules" as more of a concept than anything else--the ages of angels and demons are rather hard to pin down--but it seems to have influenced me subconsciously, so this is more of a friendshippy fic than a shippy one, really. Oh well.

For the first few dozen centuries of his existence, he'd been fine with muddling along as best he could. )

Summary: On the way downstairs for a midnight snack, Asbel gets a bit of a surprise.
Author's Notes: This is part of my AU where Richard gets to stay in Lhant as a child for the better part of a year, instead of only a few days. Basically, I wanted something adorable, so I wrote it. There's not a lot else to the fic than that. :D;;

'So what are you doing up, anyway?' )

Genre: Romance
Rating & Warnings: G

Summary: The first peony is for him.
Author's Notes: This was another beginning of a fic that didn't work out--this time because I forgot what season I was setting it in, oops--but that I liked enough to post as a standalone. It's part of an experiment I did with writing poetic prose and atmospheric pieces, and sadly, my hypothesis was correct: I need a lot more practice. Oh well.
