queenie_z. Daddy loves you~! ♥
Lloyd sat in a clearing where the group had stopped for the night, just after stealing their brand-new Rheairds from under the Renegades’ noses. His two swords were out and sitting on the grass in front of them, and the teen was subjecting them to fierce scrutiny.
“All right. If one sword is one hundred power, and two swords are two hundred power, what would I get if . . . ?”
He moved the two swords so that they lay end to end, the bottoms of their hilts touching. Then, thinking a moment longer, he reached back and pulled off the ribbons from where they fed through the back of his shirt and tied the two swords together.
“Perfect! Lloyd Irving, you’re a genius!” He grinned and picked up his creation.
“Hey, bud, what’re ya up to?” Zelos’ voice came from behind him.
Lloyd turned and saw Zelos and Colette watching him curiously. Pleased to have people to explain himself to, he held up his swords.
“Look, guys!” he said, obviously excited. “I’ve been thinking ever since we left the Renegade base. One sword is like . . . one hundred power, so two swords are two hundred power, right? But that Yuan guy was using his sword like it was at least four hundred power! So I thought I could tie my swords together like his and do the same! Pretty cool, huh?”
“Wow, Lloyd! That’s so great!” Colette beamed at him as though he was the smartest boy alive.
Zelos, however, raised his eyebrows in a sceptical look. “Right, bud. Whatever you say.”
“What?” Lloyd asked defensively.
“Nothin’, nothin’.” The redhead grinned at Lloyd. “Anyway, we were just coming to tell you that supper’s ready.” His grin turned to a grimace. “The Professor cooked.”
“Aww, man. Why couldn’t you have stopped her?” Lloyd grimaced along with him.
“And risk her wrath? You’ve gotta be kidding me.” Zelos turned to go, Colette following his example.
“Just a sec.” Lloyd started to sheathe his newly-created butterfly sword, then realised he had a problem. “Uh.”
“Umm . . . maybe you should untie your swords for now and just tie them up for fighting?” Colette suggested.
“Yeah, maybe.” Lloyd set to undoing the knots in his ribbons.
And far off on Derris-Kharlan, Kratos found himself wondering why he had the sudden urge to facepalm.
