Mac's inclusion is thanks to a fic Cata recently wrote with bitty Helios, Ginia, and Giles--just because they're all the same age didn't mean they all came from the same year. I found that really fascinating to consider and it got me to thinking about other ways that kind of year gap might show up. Ta-da!
Yeah, at first I had planned on skipping over the scene where Pao-Lin invited Hubert to play a Wii game with her, and then I realized just what Hubert!torture I would be missing. It's amazing how used to a dreadfully unfortunate name you can become until you start thinking about it from an outsider's perspective.
Exhibit A: Hubert Oswell examines a Wii. There is nothing potentially suggestive about this sentence whatsoever.

...though it's even more hilarious that Barnaby ended up losing to Keith anyway.

XDDD My issues with the Wii Wheel, let me show you them. I basically drive like Hubert when I use the wheel, and Yosie's first time playing with it? He spent nearly an entire race holding it upside down before he figured out the reason why he was driving so badly. As far as I'm concerned, the ability to use the Wii Wheel properly is deep magic.
(Double Dash would be SO much better suited to those two, yes. XD Which is why I wrote about the Wii version! :Db)
Pao-Lin just thinks she's reassuring him in regards to the Mario Kart-induced swearing! She's totally going about it the right way, right?
Yeah, when you know all of the hell the poor kid went through, him losing so badly is actually pretty awful. Poor guy.
I see that Pao-Lin finally got invited over for meals at the Graces abode.

It's totally so he can draw more accurate maps for military reconnaissance, not because he wants an excuse to spend more time with his girlfriend!!

I gotta say, losing in Mario Kart must've really hit Hubert hard, if he was that willing to risk being seen playing a video game in the Rec Center. XD

...But yes, I had a lot of fun writing this. These two play off each other so well and their relationship issues are so much fun that if I came up with another Dragon & Gunblade idea in the future, I wouldn't exactly have any objections to writing it.... :Db
And having this become part of your headcanon is basically the biggest compliment you could give me. 8DDDD Thanks for the thorough review, I'm glad you enjoyed it so much, and you made me giggle ridiculously with the last part. ♥
