It was born from the speculation of what direction the Buffy comics were going to take with Giles. This was one of the possibilities, even if it wasn't the direction the comics ended up going in. Possibly Giles would have preferred this to what actually happened.

Author's Notes: As I was reading through the Hunger Games triology, I kept thinking about the ways that this series could be crossed over with Tales of Legendia, and I kept wondering how Grune, whose role is to inspire hope and to save world after world from being claimed by the other half of her soul, could possibly win in a fight for Panem. Exploring the idea is what led me to write this.

I've tried to make this comprehensible for people who only have experience with one work or the other. Tales of Legendia isn't exactly a well-known game, and a lot of Grune's role is left ambiguous in it, so I've also made use of extensive amounts of headcanon. So, um...good luck?

Author's Notes: One of my big regrets in Luceti is actually sending Grune on the draft that took place during the giant storm. I really, really wanted to have her team up with Ryoji, but ultimately I decided that it had been long enough since her last draft that she was due for another one.

Then I ended up not doing much of anything, thereby wasting both my opportunities. v___v

So, this fic is my attempt to remedy that. I suppose it could be considered the final part to "A Chance Rescue" and "A Chance Visit." Pretty much, I took the scenario that Snarky wrote up for Ryoji on the village post and basically ran with it. I had a lot of fun writing this one (doing fic from Grune's point of view is always a great thought exercise), and I think it turned out fairly well overall. So yup!

I will also freely admit to being unskilled at poetry, having not made a serious attempt at the stuff outside of what was required in class since high school.
