Well, the thing is, with the Renegades, Yuan has dedicated his life to killing the woman he loved. While I'm sure Martel understands he's only doing what needs to be done, for the most part, on other levels, I'm sure it can't help but feel like a betrayal of the deepest kind.

So to answer your question, the Yuan she heard was not actually Yuan, but more along the lines of the Yuan her subconscious feelings of betrayal had created.
