Because if he pokes too hard at the prison walls, they might come down and whatever was keeping him alive in Luceti might have...well, stopped doing that. Selfish, he knows, but Giles did eventually develop a survival instinct and people tell him this is a good thing.

...wow. I mean, I knew that Stella had to have been around a while if only because Sophie was three years old. I wonder if that was what got the rules for kids in the game written up? Since, well, Sophie remains the one and only. Man, talk about "it takes a village to raise a child". And, yeah, I remember reading that doesn't Sophie have the ability to throw things very hard? That's part of why I signed Giles up as an occasional caretaker. He can take a hit, at the least.
