[castle-perrault] More of Tauriel and her Skelefam. <3

Title: Nighttime Haven
Fandom: [community profile] castle_perrault, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, Undertale, Tales of Legendia
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 1078
Disclaimer: I don't own the above fandoms.
Summary: Tauriel has carefully prepared her family's bedroom for a good night's sleep, but where are they?
Author's Notes: I got an adorable mental image in my head and just had to share it with everyone. Enjoy the cotton candy. ♥

Tauriel sighs, but she is smiling. So it has happened again. )

[castle-perrault] RPfic!

Title: The Plan of Iladar
Fandom: [community profile] castle_perrault, The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug, Undertale, Tales of Legendia
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 446
Disclaimer: I don't own the above fandoms.
Summary: Tauriel's life has not followed her plan, especially when it comes to her children.
Author's Notes: My first (finished) [community profile] castle_perrault fic! I read most of a sad thread between an AU version of Sans and Papyrus and became very sad, and wrote this to cheer myself up. :D;; Notes on the Sindarin that Sans-Serif and Tauriel speak at the end.

The faint lights of his eyes brighten. )

[Foyle's War] Dipping a toe or two in....

Title: Home and Abroad
Fandom: Foyle's War
Genre: Gen/Romance
Rating & Warnings: PG (ableism, homophobia, alcohol)
Words: 1056
Disclaimer: I don't own Foyle's War.
Summary: Fifty moments in the lives of the Foyle Family.
Author's Notes: I've been rewatching Foyle's War lately, and I've gotten that old familiar writing itch. So, to practice before I embark on a larger-scale project, I wrote these instead. I'm defining the Foyle Family as Foyle (naturally), Sam, Paul, Andrew, and Brookie. There's also a definite bent toward Sam/Paul, as it's become one of my ships for the series and I'm planning on writing more of it later. So yup!

DS9 - Apparently I have a backlog of crack.

Title: Out of Communications Range
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Humour
Rating & Warnings: PG (language, reference to sexual content)
Words: 615
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: When O'Brien doesn't answer Sisko's hail over his combadge, Sisko and Odo assume the worst. In this case, however, their pessimism may not be called for--and may, in fact, make things a touch awkward.
Author's Notes: Because everyone in Star Trek jumps to conclusions way too often, and it has to have bitten them in the ass at least once or twice over the years.

If you like what you've read, please consider supporting me on Patreon! I'm currently minimally employed, so every little bit helps.

DA:I - Yosie and I have silly conversations sometimes.

Title: Diversions
Fandom: Dragon Age: Inquisition
Genre: Humour
Rating & Warnings: PG (blood mention)
Words: 401
Disclaimer: I don't own Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Summary: Varric comes up with a couple of different ways to pass the time on the Storm Coast.
Author's Notes: This is a combination of party banter turning up in a funny place and the conversation between me and my brother that followed. Don't think too long and hard about the likelihood of this one particular song developing both on Earth and Thedas.

If you like what you've read, please consider supporting me on Patreon! I'm currently minimally employed, so every little bit helps.

Then Varric began to sing: )

DS9 - A fun Cheesy Trope for me!

Title: 30-Day Cheesy Tropes Challenge - 19. Vampire AU
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Pre-slash
Rating & Warnings: PG (blood, past consent issues)
Words: This part 2177, ?? overall
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: Ever since Dr. Bashir started inviting Garak to Quark's for drinks, he's become very particular about who touches his glass. Garak intends to find out why.
Author's Notes: I really, really did not expect to enjoy writing this nearly as much as I did. There's just something about a lifelong vampire phobia that suggested to me that #19 would not be one of my favourites. And yet here we are.

If you're enjoying this series, please consider supporting me on Patreon. All funds go towards recouping the money from my cat's dental surgery and, as always, rent. Thank you!

But a conspiracy between Dr. Bashir and Quark was ABSURD . . . or so he wanted to believe. )

DA:I - For Hicku, who may have unleashed a flood

Title: Mere Curiosity
Fandom: Dragon Age: Inquisition
Genre: Humour
Rating & Warnings: G
Words: 100
Disclaimer: I don't own Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Summary: Of course Cassandra isn't planning on writing stories herself. That would be ridiculous.
Author's Notes: Written for [personal profile] hickumu, who single-handedly met my first two fundraising goals on Patreon! As a perk, she got to request a drabble, and so here it is: something with Varric and Cassandra.

For anyone who'd be interested in contributing, the next milestone involving me writing fic nets everyone a 250-word fic of their choice. So, you know.

The Hobbit - The last chapter of the second part of a VERY long series

Title: Walking Out
Fandom: The Hobbit
Genre: Romance
Rating & Warnings: PG
Words: 2831 this chapter; 20 409 overall.
Disclaimer: I don't own The Hobbit.
Summary: Sequel to Out of Step. A few weeks after discovering Thranduil's feelings for him, Bard still does not know whether he wishes to court him. After all, they have rarely spoken outside the meeting room--do they truly know each other? This chapter: The final day of walking out and the decision.
Author's Notes: Thank you very much to all my readers for joining me on this fic! The next installment is already written, but in a very rough form, so unfortunately I won't be posting it anytime soon. My goal is to have it to you all by the end of the year, but hopefully it'll be sooner than that.

Enjoy the conclusion!

'Someone to see you, sire,' the stocky man she'd indicated was saying, but Bard's gaze was already travelling past him to where a tall, lone figure stood a few paces outside the gathering. )

DS9 - Star Trek Friendshipfest 2015

Title: Learning, Relearning
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: G (emetophobia, death mention)
Words: 1567
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: Why Kira had invited the newly joined Ezri Dax to lunch so soon after Jadzia's death is beyond her.
Author's Notes: Here it is--my entry for Star Trek Friendshipfest 2015! I was assigned persiflet, who likes explorations of cultural differences. I tried to oblige, but this thing kind of wanted to go in its own direction. Whoops.

'Instead, she very much regrets having invited Ezri Dax to lunch in the replimat, the way she and Jadzia always . . . used to.' )

The Hobbit - Chapter 3 of the second part of a VERY long series

Title: Walking Out
Fandom: The Hobbit
Genre: Romance
Rating & Warnings: PG
Words: 5661 this chapter; 20 409 overall.
This chapter: The second day of walking out.
Author's Notes: Someday, I will write out the entirety of "Unnur the Cooper." That day is not today, however. But someday.

The Hobbit - Chapter 2 of the second part of a VERY long series

Title: Walking Out
Fandom: The Hobbit
Genre: Romance
Rating & Warnings: PG
Words: 7580 this chapter; 20 409 overall.
This chapter: The first day of walking out.
Author's Notes: What happens when you take two guys who don't know how to relax and stick them together for a day? This chapter, apparently.

On a side note, for those who are curious, this is what a faering looks like.

'Beg your pardon, sire, but . . . King Thranduil is here to see you.' )

The Hobbit - Chapter 1 of the second part of a VERY long series!

Title: Walking Out
Fandom: The Hobbit
Genre: Romance
Rating & Warnings: PG
Words: 4338 this chapter; 20 409 overall.
Disclaimer: I don't own The Hobbit.
Summary: Sequel to Out of Step. A few weeks after discovering Thranduil's feelings for him, Bard still does not know whether he wishes to court him. After all, they have rarely spoken outside the meeting room--do they truly know each other?
Author's Notes: And here we are: the next part of the series formerly named The Healing of the Northern Kingdoms and now called Sharing the Path, because I finally found a naming scheme I like.

This follows "Out of Step" directly, so if you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend doing so before continuing here.

A huge thank you to philosothor and bmouse for their respective amazing lore and plot/reading mechanics betas, and to dreamingfifi of RealElvish.net for translating into proper Sindarin what I was aiming for with a certain Elvish name. You three are the best!

I hope everyone enjoys, and Happy Barduil Week! <3

DS9 - Fun with different ages

Title: 30-Day Cheesy Tropes Challenge - 18. Orphan AU
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Gen
Rating & Warnings: PG (reference to abuse)
Words: This part 3366, ?? overall
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: When "Torin" Garak's coworker asks him to get rid of the Human boy asking for a job at their Cardassian restaurant, Garak decides to do the manager's job for her and hire "Julian Banting" instead.
Author's Notes: ngl this was one of my absolute favourite fics to write out of the entire series, and like the Arranged Marriage one, I have a few more ideas for it kicking around the back of my head. Whether I'll get around to them remains to be seen, but I hope I'll have the time eventually.

DS9 - Gardening buddies ftw!

Title: Smiles and Botany
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Gen/Humour
Rating & Warnings: PG (mild language, mild sexism)
Words: 3073
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: Keiko has many beautiful smiles. The one she wears when she suggests that they should invite Julian and his new partner Garak over for a dinner party is not remotely one of Miles' favourites.
Author's Notes: I've been meaning to get around to posting this one for, um, over a year now. Whoops.

I don't think I've ever written anything from Miles' perspective before, actually! It was a bit of a challenge, in that I didn't want to write some of his more 90s TV husband traits but I also wanted to stay true to his character. Balancing his actual reasonable dislike of Garak with him also being grumpy was interesting as well.

I'm not sure if I'll be writing anything else from his point of view any time soon, but it was a good exercise in the meantime. And it was an excuse to write more about Keiko, as well as one of my OTPs, and I never say no to that!

Also: I've included a bonus wry joke for anyone who's read A Stitch In Time. Five points if you catch it. <3

Miles didn't like smiling. )

Cabin Pressure - I had to.

Title: Better-Looking Pilots Actually Sing "Love Is an Open Door" From Frozen
Fandom: Cabin Pressure
Genre: Humour
Rating & Warnings: G (Casual ableist language)
Words: 1167
Disclaimer: I don't own Cabin Pressure.
Summary: While waiting for a customer to turn up, Arthur shows Herc and Douglas a video on his phone. Herc and Douglas think they can do better.
Author's Notes: Basically, when I learned this existed, I knew what I had to do.

The Hobbit - The start of a VERY long series

Title: Out of Step
Fandom: The Hobbit
Genre: Pre-slash
Rating & Warnings: PG
Words: 8094
Disclaimer: I don't own the above media.
Summary: Bard has been invited to King Thranduil's halls alone, without his council. For what reason, he does not know--the Elvenking's thoughts have always been beyond Bard's ability to guess.
Author's Notes: I'm holding three people responsible for this series: bmouse, who got me thinking about this pairing in the first place; Ewebean, whose art (especially this piece) ended up birthing this story, and bendingsignpost, who is the most enabling enabler to ever enable. I hope the three of you are happy (because I sure am).

Major thanks go to Ben for a kind and excellent beta, and for Jeff, who not only betaed but became my Tolkien loremaster. While not much of his answers to the many involved questions I've lobbed his way are going to turn up in this fic, they'll definitely be important later. Any mistakes, then, in the lore are mine.

Also--I'm now on Patreon! If you'd like to support my work, why not drop a tip in my tip jar over there? More information can be found in my profile on the site.

Thank you very much and enjoy the fic! <3

Bard had increasingly discovered Thranduil's eyes upon him when he sought his opinion on some matter, though what the Elvenking was seeing was beyond Bard's ability to guess. )

[DS9] A not-that-fun Cheesy Trope for me....

Title: 30-Day Cheesy Tropes Challenge - 17. Noble/Peasant AU
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Pre-slash
Rating & Warnings: G (classism, sexism)
Words: This part 1584, ?? overall
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: There is a new resident of the hamlet of Bajor--a Cardassian, they say. In spite of being warned against it, the Honourable Julian Subatoi intends to investigate these curious circumstances.
Author's Notes: I'll be honest with all of you: this is another trope that's not a favourite of mine, because, not to put too fine of a point on it, I am an old fart. Though I set this a fair bit farther forward in pseudo-history than was probably intended by the trope, the classism is still pretty intense in this and it's topped off with a sprinkling of sexism, so, well, be warned.

That said, I still had some fun with language and wordplay in this. Anybody who can tell me why Julian's home is called what it is gets a cookie (and no, it isn't named after Khan).

'He's a tailor.' Her brows drew together. 'From Cardassia.' )

DS9 - Happy Femslash February!

Title: All Right
Fandom: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Genre: Hurt/Comfort, AU
Rating & Warnings: PG (language, reference to canonical character death)
Words: 899
Disclaimer: I don't own Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Summary: The first Lovers' Day since Jadzia's death, Kira has to make a decision.
Author's Notes: Happy Femslash February! I had been expecting to celebrate the month with my current favourite femslash couple, Kira/Jadzia, but then this popped into my head and demanded to be written. I didn't think I shipped Kira/Ezri, but after writing this I sure do!

Slightly AU, set in a 'verse where reassociation is not a taboo among the Trill. (Although lbr, given Ezri was also a Starfleet science officer on exactly the same station and with exactly the same friends as her previous host, I don't think the writers were too concerned about that by Season 7.)

And so Kira had gone to the holosuites and had beaten the shit out of as many computer-generated images as she could until she had been too exhausted to grieve. )
